The problem turned out to be both due to having IP Chains and IP Tables
running on the machine. Martin Fleming mentioned http://groklaw.net/
as g great source of information for those who want more information about the
SCO/Linux issues that we have been discussing over the past few weeks. Dick Mathews initiated a
discussion about the December 31st End of Life for Red Hat-8 and
asked for recommendations for a strategy for the future. Jeff indicated that the Fedora project will continue to
provide updates for legacy versions from RH-7.0 and up. The Fedora Project is a Red-Hat-sponsored and
community-supported open source project. According
to information posted at the site, “The Fedora Project is one of the sources
for new technologies and enhancements that may be incorporated into Red Hat
Enterprise Linux in the future.” This
suggests that the Enterprise product is going to be based on more mature
packages with an emphasis on stability. The next meeting will be held
