MEETING MINUTES: - 
Feb 8th, 2003

Members attending the meeting included: Richard Foerster,  Jim Lucha,  Jerry Schnaus,  Jeff Lasman, Tom Nielsen, Dick Mathews, and Clint Byrum.  Also attending the meeting for the first time were, Lisle Emerson, and her son Jacob.

 

Members not in attendance at this meeting included   Alan Shoemaker, Don Evinger,  Mac Shaver, Greg Rawson, Martin Fleming, Klaus Herzog,  Isaac Sladana,  Ossil Macavinta, Michael Karshner, Dana Rodin, Todd Lyons, Dave Reisz, Gary Taylor, Ken Howels,  Hung Nguyen, Kandy Phan, Tad Peters,  Forrest Sherman,  Craig Carignan, Donna Schrokosch, and  Jim Vassilako.   

 

Clint provided a demonstration of updating a Linux system using  “AptGet”, which is  the APT package handling utility with a  command-line interface. This tool is a part of the DebianPackageManagement system.   

 

Clint did a great job overcoming obstacles during the demo, and showed excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve issues on the fly.  Most of the issues were due to having to simulate an internet connection to locate packages needed for the upgrade.

All-in-all the meeting was a great success, and we are looking forward to our next meeting on March 8th, 2003.
